UWB - Silicon Proven Converter Technology

UltraWide Band (UWB) communications systems call for very high speed data converters.

Chipidea's High frequency 6-bit, 1GHz ADC, 90 nm (CI3412hm) is SILICON PROVEN since 2005. The ADC uses a two-step sub-ranging architecture with a compact area, and has excellent performance and very low power - Recognized by IEEE at ISSCC'06.
Main Features: 6-bit; 1GHz; 90nm; 1P6M, CMOS; Power Supply: 1.2 V +/- 10%; Core Area: 0.13mm2; Power Dissipation: 55mW
Applications: Blu-ray disk (optical/Magnetic storage) and UWB applications.

Cellular - Tightly Integrated AFEs + Power + Audio

Chipidea complete offering for Mixed-Signal IP in Cellular applications, include the Analog Front-Ends (AFE) to interface with the RF chip-set, Audio Codecs and Power Management. This is a mature technology at Chipidea, with many proven designs already in production.

The AFE self-contained cores
  • can be supplied as a companion die in 0.18um process, for SiP integration, or, as embedded cores in 90nm or 65nm for SoC integration;
  • are highly programmable to support different RF chip-sets and to allow multimode radios (eg. EGPRS and WCDMA);
  • The Rx Path is based on a reconfigurable Sigma-Delta modulator that provides optimized current consumption both for EGPRS mode (100kHz bandwidth) and WCDMA mode (2 MHz bandwidth), allowing to save chip area by re-using the same IP core;
  • can be tailored to our customers specific requirements and can support a wide range of systems, including GSM/EGPRS, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA/UMTS.

USB - First IP Vendor with HS PHY Certification in TSMC 65nm

Chipidea Achieves Industry's First USB High Speed PHY Certification in TSMC 65nm Technology. Exceptionally compact size IP offers the industry lowest integration cost and the industry lowest power consumption - less than 80mW. Also provides new features, like charger detection and programmability of key high speed parameters like amplitude, rise/fall times and slope. (CI12343tn).

USB - Smaller, Feature-Rich USB High-Speed Controller

ChipIdea has released the new 1.1a Revision of the USB High-Speed Controller, including new exciting features, and reduced gatecount. The master bus interface was extended to support AMBA AHB incremental fixed bursts (INCR4/INCR8/INCR16), while the slave bust interface has a new option, AMBA APB 3.0, in addition to the existing AMBA AHB implementation. These new options enable an optimization of the system bus performance. In addition, the new 1.1a Revision allows reduction on the gate-count by up to 25% in comparison with the previous 1.0a Revision.
The USB High-Speed Controller is available as four different products: Device, Host, OTG, and Multi-Port Host. See: CI13411, CI13511, CI13611, CI13711.

Power Management - How to overcome the Challenge of SoC Integration

Chipidea's general purpose Power Management (PM) IP portfolio, enables SOC designers to overcome one of the major challenges of integrating a system on chip, namely the generation, monitoring and management of multiple voltage domains as well as the generation of voltage references and clock references within a SOC.

Key advantages: high level of programmability and scalability, wide range of applications, low power consumption, extremely compact, wide availability on several foundries and processes and customization into complete PM units.


General purpose PM IP includes the following IP:
  • Universal Linear Regulators with external capacitor: Programmable Output Voltage Range: 0.8V-3.4V in steps of 100mV; LDO modular for output load currents from 25mA up to 300mA (CI2423)

  • Capless Linear Regulators Programmable Output Voltage Range: 0.8V-3.3V in steps of 100mV (CI2337tg)

  • Linear Regulators for RTC applications - Very low current consumption <8uA including bandgap circuit ; Extremely compact: 0.05mm2 (CI2420tg) (CI2420ug)

  • Universal Power On Reset Circuits (POR) - Programmable Thresholds: 0.8V 3.2V in steps of 50mV; Extremely compact: 0.06mm2 (CI2718)

  • Crystal Oscillators 32kHz Oscillator and 4-40MHz Oscialltors. Current consumption: 1uA (32kHz); 2mA(40MHz); Extremely compact: 0.050.08mm2 (CI1816cl), (CI1816tl), (CI1821tm)

  • Reference Voltage Generators - Low current consumption: <10uA (CI11416tg)

USB 2.0 High Speed OTG PHY in TSMC 80nm GC CMOS Technology (CI12323tk)
New generation PHY with reduced area and power consumption, including key analog parameter programmability that allow to compensate board and package effects.

Audio Codec in TSMC 80nm GC CMOS Technology - PRELIMINARY Optimized cost-performance audio codec IP enables high-fidelity audio quality with multiple analog interface capabilities, such as microphone, line-in/out, headphone and loudspeaker, compact area (2.9mm2) and low power operation (12mW @ playback).

TouchScreen Controller in 65nm LP CMOS Technology - PRELIMINARY
Supports 4/5/7 and 8 wire touch screens and includes Touch/Pressure measurements and auxiliary inputs for general purpose measurements. Very compact area and flexible power modes for low power dissipation. Applications: Touch-Screen for PDAs, Cell phones, Tablet PCs, Smart handheld devices, MP3 players.
